"We Disappear" is Heim's first book in a while, and it seems to have emerged from the success of the film version of "Mysterious Skin." It handles a mother-son relationship in a refreshing way for gay fiction (it's not really about sexual orientation I read "Mysterious Skin" possibly when I was still in high school and really liked it/5.
